Monaco’s superb start to the season has carried over from domestic form into the Champions League. They entered the latest international break unbeaten in 12 matches dating back to May, with that sequence including their opening pair of games in the Champions League as they picked up four points.

FK Crvena Zvezda also went into the break on a high, having defeated rivals Partizan Belgrade 4-0 for their biggest Eternal Derby win since 1998 in September, a result that contributed to them not losing any of their first 10 Serbian top flight games, with nine wins. However, both teams have lost games in the Champions League.

Our 3 Predictions for Monaco Vs FK Crvena Zvezda

  • 1st prediction : Monaco to win @ 1.35
  • 2nd prediction : Under 3.5 goals @ 1.65
  • 3rd prediction : Goals in both halves No @ 2.45

1st Prediction for Monaco to win @ 1.35

Manager Adi Hütter took over at Monaco in July 2023 after stints in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Monchengladbach. In his first season, he guided the club to second place in Ligue 1 – their best finish since 2017/18 – and a return to the Champions League for the first time since 2018/19.

They have made an excellent start to the season, the clear highlight being their Matchday One win over Barcelona at this venue. They showed resilience to fight back for a point in Zagreb last time and, back on their own patch, should account for this FK Crvena Zvezda side that has, thus far, just looked shorn of the overall quality required to be picking up wins on the road in this company.

2nd Prediction for Under 3.5 goals @ 1.65

A goal-fest doesn’t appear likely in Monaco. Seven of Monaco’s first nine games of the season went under 3.5 goals, with one of the exceptions being the 2-2 draw in Zagreb in their previous Champions League outing, a contest in which they needed a 90th minute penalty from Denis Zakaria to get beyond that marker.

FK Crvena Zvezda were hit for four in the San Siro last time against Inter, though they kept it at just one goal for almost an hour. The visiting side are sure to be cautious in this game, seeking to keep things tight at the back. Monaco’s success last season in taking the runners-up spot in Ligue 1 was based on a solid defence and they can hold these visitors at arm’s length in a contest that may not feature many goals.

3rd Prediction for Goals in both halves No @ 2.45

With the forecast for goals to be precious, it’s worth doubling down and going with a bet for at least one half not to produce a goal.

Monaco only conceded four goals in their first seven Ligue 1 games this season, producing four goalless halves along the way.

Crvena Zvezda may have lost 0-4 at Inter Milan last time in this competition but, as noted, there was only one first half goal and they did an excellent job defensively of stifling the Serie A champions, with Inter’s xG (expected goals) in the opening 45 minutes only coming in at 0.26. They’ll have a similar approach now and they might well hold the French outfit until half-time.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-to-Head

Monaco made a superb start to this competition as goals from Maghnes Akliouche and George Ilenikhena saw them defeat 10-man Barcelona 2-1 at the Stade Louis II.

They were aided by the Catalans having a man sent off after only 10 minutes, but it was notable scalp none the less.

Next time out, they claimed what in the end was a good point at Dinamo Zagreb, trailing 0-2 after 70-plus minutes before Mohammed Salisu and a Denis Zakaria penalty rescued them.

For FK Crvena Zvezda things have been more testing amongst Europe’s elite, with losses at home to Benfica and away to Inter Milan so far.

The Serbs have finished bottom of their group in each of their three Champions League group stage campaigns and appear set for another struggle in this new format, even at this earl juncture.

FK Crvena Zvezda were of course champions of Europe in 1990/91, while Monaco reached the final in 2003/04 – though both clubs are likely to come up a little bit shy of such lofty ambitions right now.
