Manchester City won their maiden Champions League title in 2022/23 and Pep Guardiola’s side are amongst the favourites for further continental glory this season, ensuring Sparta Prague face an arduous task in their upcoming visit to the Etihad Stadium.

Our 3 Predictions for Manchester City vs Sparta Prague

  • 1st prediction: Manchester City Total Goals Over 2.5 @ 1.45
  • 2nd prediction: Both Teams To Score No – 1.45
  • 3rd prediction: Over 5.5 First Half Corners @ 2.12

1st Prediction for Manchester City Total Goals Over 2.5 – 1.45

Manchester City were held scoreless by Inter Milan on their opening night in the Champions League this season but they are unlikely to see that repeated now.

The Citizens will have Erling Haaland leading the way and he has scored 42 goals in just 41 UEFA Champions League appearances, rewriting the record books in the process.

The Norwegian announced himself in the competition with a first-half hat-trick on his debut and has since become only the third player to score five times in a UEFA Champions League match.

He’s made a fantastic start to this season and should be a major threat in a game where City can find the net at least three times.

2nd Prediction for Both Teams To Score No – 1.45

City have yet to concede goal in their two games. Inter, finalists two seasons ago, only managed three shots on goal here while Slovan Bratislava didn’t have a single effort on target and were restricted to just 26 per-cent possession on Matchday Two.

Guardiola’s side will dominate the ball again here and will do well to find the net for the third UCL game running. Much more likely is that City will record a third successive clean sheet.

3rd Prediction for Manchester City vs Sparta Prague: Over 5.5 First Half Corners – 2.12

City were utterly dominant last time against Slovan Bratislava on the road, amassing 15 corners across the 90 minutes with no fewer than seven of those coming in the first half.

Sparta Prague are likely to be under the cosh from the get-go at the Etihad Stadium and it might be worth backing over 5.5 first half corners, with the hosts seemingly very capable of running up a decent tally of kicked restarts.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-to-Head

Manchester City were held to a scoreless draw in their opening Champions League game by Inter Milan in a repeat of the 2022/23 final – when of course, City emerged with the only goal to claim their maiden crown at this level.

The Premier League side wasted little time atoning for that blip as they put four past Slovan Bratislava on Matchday Two, with Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden, Erling Haaland and James McAtee all scoring.

Sparta Prague are more than pleased with their own start, collecting a 3-0 home win over RB Salzburg and then a useful point on the road in Stuttgart.

This is the acid test as they venture to Manchester and a first ever tussle with City.
