Round 6 Weekend Round-up
LAST WEEK | Hawkes Bay United 4-0 Waitakere United
Waitakere United were reminded how close the competition is in their seventh match of the ISPS Handa Premiership on Sunday afternoon, suffering a 4-0 loss to Hawkes Bay United in Napier.
At halftime the match still could have gone either way, with Hawkes Bay only leading by one goal, but missed opportunities and defensive errors from Waitakere throughout the second half allowed Hawkes Bay to increase their lead by three more.
The result saw Waitakere drop back below Southern United on the table, but with little points separating several teams on the ladder, there’s potential for major changes in the coming weeks.
LAST WEEK | Hawkes Bay United Youth 2-8 Waitakere United Youth
Waitakere United Youth opened with a far more successful result against Hawkes Bay, dominating them with an 8-2 win on Saturday afternoon. The impressive result pushed Waitakere United up to second on the National Youth League table, only trailing front-runners Auckland City on goal difference.
The continued success of Waitakere United Youth is a good reflection of the depth of talent we have and the strong potential of the club in coming seasons.
